Purse Pictures!

Here's the pictures of my finished purse (and accessories!).  Ignore the dirty background - haven't gotten around to cleaning the patio up for the summer yet!

I had a lot of fun coming up with a little credit card holder and change purse as well - I love having the matching set!  Especially since I have a tendency to leave my purse at home and just put my credit card holder in my pocket before I leave the house.
Here's some close-ups:

And the whole set together:

I'll be starting the next purse soon - it's going to be made of a beautiful teal batik fabric for my mom!  I'm hoping to get it finished this week, but we'll see how that goes...

Purse Done! And a cool camera site

My purse is finished!  I even got super motivated and made a matching credit card wallet-thingy (technical term) and coin purse - but I don't have pics of those yet... They'll be coming soon!

I've decided that my next big purchase for my web design business is going to be a new camera, and while I was looking around on the interwebz doing some research I came across this really cool site: http://snapsort.com.  Apparently they've been working on upgrading their user interface lately, which is awesome!  They now have user-contributed videos for reviews and tutorials, and when you are comparing two different cameras you can see how people have voted for each of the individual categories on each camera, not just an overall vote total, which is pretty cool!

Anyways, if you are looking for a new camera you should definitely check this site out!  I promise I'll get some new pics up soon, can't wait to show off my new purse and the fabric for the next one!

Two-Hour Tulip Purse

So, this purse is definitely going to take me longer than two hours, but at least I know that it shouldn't be too difficult!  I'm just excited that I've started a new project :)
Here is Saffron modeling the fabric that will become my first purse (ignore all the junk in the background... its a combination of jewelry-making, scrapbooking & drawing supplies that don't have a home anywhere else!).  Of course she can't handle me focusing my attention on anything that doesn't involve her in some way!
You can see the fabric a little better here - I LOVE the colors!  I'll have to take a picture with my camera instead of my phone, the flash was waaaaay too bright...
About to make my first cut!  And somehow I managed to keep my darling kitty off the table while I was at it :)  That doesn't happen very often!
And here is the pattern I'm following... isn't it an adorable bag?  Maybe it will be enough to convince me that carrying a purse isn't so bad after all!
I'll be back soon with more pictures and an update on how it's coming!

Success!

Ok, so this definitely not the greatest picture I have ever taken, but I told myself I wanted to have SOMETHING put up tonight, even though I spent all day working on a website instead of being crafty. So here it goes, the first picture of my first quilt (ever) to ever be on the interwebz!
I followed the 1st Quilt Ever tutorial over at Obsessively Stitching and it was sooooo much fun!  I had a blast with everything from picking out the fabrics to free-motion quilting the top.  I really love this quilt and I'm totally looking forward to getting started on my next project - quilted purses! I already have the patterns and my mom and I went shopping last weekend for the fabric, so the only thing I have left is to actually sit down and start working on them!

On a separate note, for anyone out there who is graphically inclined, here is a logo I designed for my gamer clan's LAN party which is coming up soon:
We always have fun coming up with themes, and for the last few years I've put together the logo for the t-shirts (mostly based on my hubby J's ideas).  It should be a lot of fun to see all of the guys and I always love seeing people wearing something I've designed!

Anyways, time to stop rambling now.  I'm off to bed so I can get up in time for work tomorrow...

Lesson One...

Ok, so lesson number one that I've learned since the last time I posted: reading craft blogs is great, BUT it leaves a whole lot less time for making things.  In light of this fun revelation, I've decided to set goals for myself.  By the end of this week I plan on having pictures posted for two projects!  There.  Surely putting it out there for the whole world to see will kick me into gear, right?  See you Friday!

New Year. New Blog.

I realize it's a little late to be using the whole 'new year' motif, but I've been meaning to start this blog since January.. that's got to count for something, right?

I've always been a crafty sort - I've been making jewelry for almost 4 years now, sewing off and on for about 6 or 7 years and drawing for as long as I can remember.  Mix in some baking and a little graphic/website design, and you can see how I spend most of my time!

Within the last year I've really gotten the Do-It-Myself bug though, especially for Christmas!  I made cookies, candy, lip balm and vanilla extract for EVERYONE (it's really no where near as hard as it sounds), and family and close friends got body scrubs and jewelry.  I love getting to share what I make with people, so I'm hoping that being able to post my creations will help to inspire me even more - after all, there are SOOOO MANY fantastic craft blogs out there, I can only hope that this one proves to be an inspiration as well!

I have deemed this year to be the year of learning historical 'crafts' (and yes, I'm using the term very loosely here).  I've started learning to quilt (yay!) and I've started making my own hard apple cider - plus I've decided to try and consistently make my own bread instead of buying it!  I'll post up pictures of my quilt soon, and I'll definitely be posting about the cider (I'm really excited about it!!).  Anyways, my goal is to create regularly and post regularly, so keep an eye out for me and I promise there will be pics soon!
